03 Mar Lip-sync to QUEEN and save 1,000 children
On sunday (24th February) we launched our #WeAreTheChildren campaign. We‘ve received some brilliant videos so far and if you haven‘t submitted yours yet then there is still time – Deadline is 12th March !
The three of us (Danielle, Uwe and Grigorij) are very passionate about this campaign. We were brought together a few months ago when Grigorij was walking from Paris to Berlin to raise awareness about 1,000 children who are stuck in Greek refugee camps. This powerful video by the BBC shows you how extreme the situation is in some of the camps, especially Camp Moria on the Greek island of Lesvos.
Walk: Making one Million steps for children
Many of the children have no families. Some of them are younger than eight years old. Many of them are being abused and some of them are even being raped and try to commit suicide.
Grigorij‘s walk was very successful. After making One Million steps, four German cities agreed to give the 1,000 children a home.
He also received support from 27 German MPs. Unfortunately the interior ministry in Germany hasn‘t reacted to his walk yet and therefore the children are still living in an unbearable situation.
That‘s why we teamed up…
EVENT IN PARLIAMENT
Thanks to Danielle‘s deep political network, we were able to convince Italian MEP Brando Benifei and Antonio Tajani, the President of the European parliament, to organise an event on 20th March in Brussels.
At the event we will ask European MEPs to formally endorse our campaign and to find a way to relocate the children into European countries. We are inviting several of our partners to help us make the case for the children. We hope that you will join us in person or virtually.
During the event we will present the MEPs with a petition which has been signed by over 10,000 people.
We will also premier our lip-sync campaign and this is where we need your help…
Uwe created this fantastic promo video featuring Freddie Mercury himself and Solomon Nwoye narrated it.
Legendary rock band QUEEN and Brian May shared our campaign on monday (February 25th) which has already been watched over 600,000 times.
Dozens of beautiful lip-sync videos have already been submitted. If you haven‘t submitted yours yet then please do so before 12th March.
The children are in a hopeless situation. They have no rights of education, if the camps run out of food then they starve. We hope that you join us. Together we can set a strong sign and tell the world that we care about each other. Those children are innocent and they deserve a chance at a future. Like you and me.
